A Challenge...Eating What's In Season And Eating Locally Grown!

I took on the challenge of eating only what's in season several years ago and what a food changing event it was in my life. I now spend each season savoring its tastes and smells. Strawberries, blueberries, lettuce, cucumbers, peaches, zucchini, tomatoes, avocados, radishes, onions, ramps, and every other vegetable and fruit have never tasted or smelled so sweet! I look forward with great anticipation to every day of each growing season. Whether it be winter, spring, summer or fall, there is always something new. Now eating seasonally is not always easy, but whenever I am tempted, I just bring myself back to the tastes and smells of eating something so fresh and delicious, the way that it was intended, that I find myself just walking right by. One way that I find to keep things simple and to keep me in check is to buy from local growers and providers. It is a fun way of learning and trying something new and different! I always ask a lot of questions too! I find that growers love to talk about their product. The great thing too, is that more often than not, it is cheaper than the grocery store and I just buy what I need! I hope to inspire! Karen
